Freedom of speech. 4/21/2005
Penny alerted me to the fact that The Hustler Diaries has been shut down by the author. In his explanation on the site, he says that he has received a large amount of hate mail, which “has really saddened me.”
Good going assholes. Just because you’re a bunch of narrow minded pricks who cannot stand to see someone else having fun and actually getting more sex in a week then you do in a year from your frigid/dysfunctional/pus ridden/fly blown spouse, you have to let him know that you find his site objectionable.
Grow up! Someone somewhere sometime will always find something objectionable. You cannot please everyone. Blogs are meant as a vehicle for your personal expression, and if you, as the reader, cannot deal with what is being said, then go take a short walk off a tall cliff.
I read Hustler regularly, and whilst his standard of English wasn’t the best, his stories were funny, and entertaining. And there in lies the mark of a good blog writer, the ability to engage his audience. This person had the ability to take basic human nature, and its related peccadilloes, and hold it up for the world to see, and in doing so, making some of us laugh, and smile, and giggle, and generally shake our heads in knowing recognition.
I’m not sad, just angry that a bunch of narrow minded pricks can force someone to stop doing something. What’s next? Book burning whilst singing the Horst Wessel?
