Damn and Blast. 4/10/2006

Just had a really crappy weekend.  I have a dead laptop, which didn’t like a lightning strike happening 10 meters away from it.  No, you may not ask why I was using my laptop during a severe lightning storm, and why the strike was only 10 meters away.

The other thing is that many of you know I have several bikes at home.  “The collection”, as it is beginning to be refered to.  A couple of them have 6 figure price tags.  One of them is unobtanium of the highest order.  And none of them can start.  At least, none of them wanted to this weekend .  And I really needed to ride.

Please excuse me if I’m a little grumpy.

I didn’t understand the significance of the bright spark outside my house one day until I couldn’t switch on my desktop PC. Power surge during a storm took out the power supply and the voltage regulator. Parts plus labour cost me RM120.

You have 6-figure pricetags bikes (plural!) in your garage and you expect me to feel sorry for you? Sheesh. Some people’s kids….

=)

Buaya : Get your arse in gear. We’re going riding. I’m going to get you to ride the Buayabike, even if it kills you.

Lainie : The Dell service people said the earliest they could get it fixed is Wednesday (today). So I spent all of Tuesday riding and eating, which isn’t such a bad thing.

Giant Sotong : I guess you’ve learned by now that all the regulators and arrestors in the world aren’t going to help you if a bolt strikes close enough. I was once in a portacabin off shore, which took a direct hit. Aside from throwing us all to the ground,, and singeing our body hair, it fried a couple of million US dollars worth of equipment.

Adrian : You’re just jealous :-P But look at it this way. When you come out here for a holiday, I can let you have a choice of bikes to ride. Assuming they start, that is.

Ah. Your very own personal EMP. Watch & mobile phones till running?

Actually I hope the bikes are playing up for other reasons and you get something working soon. Gotta ride, you go rusty otherwise.

Landy : The bikes are … being neglected. I have to confess to not having the time, or the space, in which to properly look after them. One of the drawbacks of living in a condo.

You can keep the “unobtanium of the highest order” bike in my house. Porch is big enough. But not big enough for the other bike, or the other bike or the other bike or the other bike.

Terms and condition applies, and I’ll throw in a wash. Heh heh heh…:-)

Buaya: ya man… get geared up and ride the damn bike will ya!! You stood us up the last round. Teh tarik and char kwey teow in Ulu Yam on you the next ride!

drive your truck on 2 wheel. hitting the ramp on the side at approximately 58 km/h with your left front tyre while turning left will work!
